Pia Shah is a Bollywood actress, director, and screenplay writer. Pia Shah was born to Indian immigrant parents based in the USA. She was born in Chatham, New Jersey (USA). She completed part of her schooling in Bombay Scottish School. There she learned horseback riding, Bharatnatyam, Ballet, and sports. The actress completed her further studies in Chatham. She attended "The Johns Hopkins University" for B.A International Relations. She made her directorial debut with the movie "Waterbaby" in 2018. Pia herself wrote the film and did the direction.

The film won 65th National Award- Best Debut Films of a director. She has also acted in "8×10 Tasveer"(2009), "No Trace"(2018), "Mistein"(2009), "I'M Here Too"(2016), "Pretty To Think So"(2008). Pia was also amongst one of the five directors chosen worldwide for the direction of Tokyo Cinema Ensemble, a short film for brand '&Tokyo'.

Ruchika K Lalwani is an Indian Writer, Filmmaker, and Producer. She was born in the city of Mumbai in Maharashtra. Ruchika K Lalwani is more commonly known by the name Pia Shah. Ruchika K Lalwani completed her schooling at Bai A.F Petit Girls High School and then did her junior college at Narsee Monjee College of Commerce and Economics. He received her Bachelor’s degree in Mass Media (BMM) before leaving the country to study in the United States of America.

While in New York, Ruchika K Lalwani wrote and produced the short film, 'I'm Afraid I am Hitler,' for her thesis in film school. The short film is set in 1976 and tells the story of a man who believes he may be Hitler. 'I'm Afraid I am Hitler’ won the award for ‘Best Short’ (Audience Choice) at the Rhode Island International Film Festival and the award for ‘Best Student Film’ at the Magnolia Independent Film Festival. This success immediately put Ruchika K Lalwani on the global map and gained her a lot of fame.

The filmmaker has worked on two other shorts, including ‘Walkaway’ in 2010, where she was a writer, and ‘Angel of Mars’ (2011), where she was an associate producer. 'Walk Away' is a captivating American Independent film produced with Bollywood flair as it explores the marital woes of the Indian diaspora in New York.

The film was distributed across the US by Reliance Entertainment and showcased Ruchika K Lalwani’s ability to merge elements of two different industries into a single story. Ruchika K Lalwani's multifaceted talents also extended to script supervision in major films, including 'Oonga' (2013), 'Bombay Talkies' (2013), 'Meena' (2012), 'Cocktail' (2012), 'Forgetting the Girl' (2012), 'Don 2' (2011), 'Trophy Kids' (2011). In 2018, she had the honor of being one of five international directors selected to direct 'Cinema Ensemble’. This production is a short film for the brand '&TOKYO' in collaboration with the Tokyo Metropolitan Government, as part of SSFF and Asia Channel.

Ruchika K Lalwani’s most significant success on the big screen so far has been the short film- ‘Waterbaby’ that she wrote and produced. The short film was released in 2016 and tells the story of an 11-year-old boy who tries to overcome his fear of water after a new girl joins his school. ‘Waterbaby’ has received thirteen nominations and multiple awards, including the Platinum Award for Best Short- Family and Platinum Remi at the 50th Worldfest Houston, along with several awards at the Filmingo International Short Film Festival, including ‘Best Script,’ ‘Best Director,’ ‘Best Editing,’ and ‘Best Short.’ The film also won the title of ‘Best Debut Film of a Director’ at the 65th National Film Awards.
