"Shantilal Mukherjee was born in Sarsuna, Kolkata. He is one of the very well known actors in the Bengali film industry. Actor Shantilal Mukherjee is known well for his roles in movies like Buno Haansh, Moner Manush, Byomkesh Bakshi and many more. He had lost his father at a very young age and had to work hard to maintain his family. After having lost his father, he had to work in a small roadside tea stall for his living. After striving there, Mr. Shantilal Mukjherjee changed his work and started working in a construction company. In spite of having to work so hard, he completed his education and graduated from Asutosh College.
He, however, always nurtured a great interest in theatres. This interest in theatres is what got him to where he is now. Despite his heavy work schedule he always made time for theatres, dramas, and plays in his early years and this got him the chance of an audition at Girish Mancha. He cracked the audition and thus gave his acting career a start. With a bit of an effort, he gradually established himself as a theatre actor. He was trained and taught acting by Ramaprasad Banik. However, in the year 1996, he gradually shifted from theatre and decided to focus more on doing acting on television.
After struggling his way through a few TV serials he finally got recognition for Ravi Ojha’s “Ek Akasher Niche” Bengali serial and Debangshu Sengupta’s “Banhisikha” Bengali TVserial. He still continues working in a number of Bengali serials and movies. Apart from his work in Bengal, actor Shantilal Mukherjee is also well known for his work in Hindi movies like Kahaani and M.S. Dhoni: The untold story, both movies in which he has shown fine acting skills. He, however, has not done any other Hindi films yet. He is working in the Tollywood or the Bengali film industry at the moment. "
