Ranjit Bawa is a Punjabi singer, actor, and dancer well- known for his song “Jatt Di Akal.” He was born in Wadala Granthian Village near Gurdaspur, Punjab on 14 March 1989. He grew keep interest towards music when he was a kid. He used to sing songs while he was in school. He gave his first stage performance when he was in class 6 and was appreciated for his voice. After watching him perform on the stage, music teacher of his school, Master Mangal trained him. He also motivated him to participate in music competitions held at the village. He completed his graduation from Guru Nanak College, Batala, and post-graduation from Khalsa College, Amritsar. While he was in his college, he participated in many singing competitions and won each one of them for six consecutive years. He sang a Pakistani song “Bol Miti Deya Baweya” for those six consecutive years and hence, was given the name Bawa.
He gained his stardom after releasing his single “Jatt Di Akal,” which broke all the Punjabi records. In 2015, he released an album named “Mitti Da Bawa.” The songs in the album were, Mitti Da Bawa, Boti Boti, Dollar VS Roti, Bandook, Sardar, Jatt da Dar, and Yarri Chandigarh Waliye. This album won “Best World Album” award at Brit Asia Awards in 2015. He also received “PTC Best Folk oriented song Award” in 2013 for his song “Jatt Di Akal.” Some of his singles include Jean, Sadi Wari Aun De, Shadi Dot Com, Kankan, Miti Da Bawa, Sher Marna, Google, Yaari Chandigarh Waliye, Jinde, Lahore, Skoda, Chat Purani, Ja Ve Mundeya, and many others. He made his debut in the movie Sarvann in 2017. He played the role of Amreek in the movie.
