Amika Shail was born in November 1992. She is a singer, actress from Mumbai. She was raised in Kolkata and belonged to a middle-class family. She got famous and well known for her solo singing “Meri Hasraton Mein” which she uploaded in Youtube and the song crossed over a million views.
Amika Shail was taught singing by her mother, who had been her constant inspiration. Although her father opposed her singing, her mother provided her support. Amika’s mother was a teacher, and her father was a doctor by profession. Her father wanted her to become a doctor too. Amika took to singing at a very young age.
Her mother was her first music teacher, and at the age of 5 she used to learn singing from her mother. Amika’s mother made tremendous effort to get her selected in the Sa Re Ga Ma Lil Champs, in which she secured the top position in Mumbai Auditions. With that, she started gaining confidence, and her career as a singer had began.
She also took part in various other music reality shows. Amika considered
as her role model because of her voice and secondly because they both were born in Kolkata. She also follows
who has been the pearl of the Indian Cinema. She started her own youtube channel and uploaded her songs which got a million views. She was quite overwhelmed by the response that followed. This was another significant start of her career which developed her confidence.
Since Amika Shail belonged to a middle-class family she had little or no means to support her career financially, nor did her parents had been much economically stable. So she started teaching music in a school as a music teacher to provide herself with financial means. Amika Shail learned Bengali Adhunik and Indian classical which toned her skills as a singer. She prefers light melody as it complements the attributes of her voice. Amika Shail starred in a Bollywood movie, Wedding Anniversary.
The acting was coincidental for her. She had a hidden desire to face the camera, so she didn’t let the opportunity go when it came her way. She admires
and wants to become a singer of her stature. She even shared the stage with the legend Lata Mangeshkar in Voice India and sang one of her songs.
