Ravi Baswani was an Indian actor, who worked in Bollywood. He rose to fame after his performance in ‘Chashme Buddoor’ and ‘Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro’. For that role, he won a Filmfare for Best Comedian. Known for his timing, he has featured in over 30 films spanning three decades. Ravi, born in Delhi, completed his schooling in Mussoorie. He then graduated from KMC, Delhi University where he was a member of the dramatic society. In his debut film Chashme Buddoor, Baswani portrayed a student who was very desperate for a girl. Soon, in Jaane Bhi Do Yaaron, he played the role of a photographer alongside Naseeruddin Shah. Ravi was a part of several hit films as a supporting artist. He is known for his roles in ‘Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa’, the evergreen ‘Chhota Chetan’, comic role in ‘Ab Aayega Maza’ and also, ‘Yun Hota Toh Kya Hota’. Ravi was known for his tremendous comic timings and distinct sense of humor. His next famous movie was ‘Monsoon’ in 2005 where he played the role of Baba. In all his feature films his acting was a blend of innocence, passion, and comic element. Even his career did not have a stable graph yet he was positive all throughout. This was his indomitable spirit. The whole Bollywood industry lamented over his sad demise in the year 2010. He did Mastang Mama that year. He is described as a kind and encouraging person. He was very close to actor Naseeruddin Shah, Alok Nath, and director David Dhawan.
