Virendra Shahaney

Virendra Shahaney is a Hindi director, producer, and scriptwriter in the Indian film industry. Born in Balaghat, Virendra did his schooling from Vivek Jyoti gnyanpeeth in Balaghat till high school. He completed his intermediate in mathematics and science in the year 1991, from government MHS School also in Balaghat, Madhya Pradesh. He completed his graduation in the bachelor of engineering with civil engineering from Madhav institute of technology and science, Jiwaji University, Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh and completed his studies in 1995. Virendra used to be very active in cultural societies as well as in sports during school. He was an active member of basketball and drama and theatre. In the last two years of his school days, he also became an active participant in science exhibitions and quizzes. In 1998, Virendra stepped into the film and television industry.

He started his career on the small screen in May and worked as a screenwriter and creative director in the television industry for almost twelve years. He became a renowned writer of famous Hindi shows on leading entertainment channels. The programs include CID aired on Sony, Bidaai (star plus), Uttaran (colors), and Agle Janam Mohe Bitiya hi kijo telecasted on Zee TV. In 2010 he started working for Sony entertainment television as vice president and creative director and as the leader of the fiction programming team which successfully charted the growth of the channel in the highly competitive GEC market. It was awarded as the channel of the year in 2011. The shows on which he worked include CID, parvarish- Kuch khatti Kuch meethi, Dekha ek khwab, kuch toh log kahenge, adaalat, saasBinaSasural, kyahuaTeravada, aahat, etc.

Later from August 2012 to April 2014, he worked as a creative producer from dancing waters productions. He was also a partner and produced mein naa bhoolungi which is a 150- part romantic thriller that was telecasted on Sony channel. After a gap of one year from 2014 to 2015, he became the chairman and managing director of web talkies. Here he leads a team of young professionals who are involved in building web talkies. It is a video streaming service that streams stories of original Indian characters. The mission is to provide every Indian with relevant entertainment which helps them in relaxing. Besides having over fifteen years of experience in the industry from being a screenwriter to an independent producer and now a co-founder at web talkies Virendra has also written a book titled Moonwalker which is a fiction that released in 2015.
