Ashok Saraf was born on 4 June 1947. This popular Indian actor and comedian started his professional career in 1969, with his first acting role in the film Janaki. His career continues with roles in more than 250 Marathi films, such as Donhi Gharcha Pahuna, Haldikunku, Tumcha Aamcha Jamal, Javal Ye LajuNako, Chimanrao Gundyabhau, Deed Shahane, Duniya Kari Salam and a lot more. Most of the films he participated in are comedy films and it is interesting to mention that in a great part of these films he acts with the actor Laxmikant Berde.

His most significant role that was recognized and remembered by the vast audience was the role of Munshiji in the film Karan Arjun from 1995. Apart from acting in comedy films, Ashok Saraf played several roles in television series as well, such as Nana O Nana, Aa Bail Mujhe Maar, ZopiGelela Jaga Zala, Don't Worry HoJayega, YehChoti Badi Baatein Hum Paanch, ChutkiBajake, Raju Raja Rajasaab and others. His most recent film is the Marathi comedy Aandhali Koshimbir released on 30 May 2014. Apart from his 45 year long acting career in Marathi films and TV seies, Ashok Saraf started his own production house called Aniket Telefilms which is managed by his wife Nivedita Joshi Saraf.
