His most acclaimed performances in plays include Stories in a Song, Ok Tata Bye Bye, The Story of Alice & Don Quixote, Renovation, Ye Gainda Kahan Se Aa Gaya, Ravanleela, and Detective Nau-Do-Gyarah. His portrayal of Sir Toby Belch in the Hindi adaptation of Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night, Piya Behroopiya, won him the META award for Best Supporting Actor in 2014. It reached critical acclaim and has been performed in over 130 shows worldwide. His recent performances include his portrayal of Oberon in Atul Kumar’s Khwaab Sa, the Hindi version of Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream.

As a director, Gagandev’s most prominent work in theatre includes the acclaimed children’s play, James Aur Ek Giant Peach, for Rangbaaz Productions. He directed Krapp's Last Tape, written by Samuel L. Becket, which opened at the Prithvi Festival for the Fringe to honor the legendary theatre director, Satyadev Dubey. He also directed Ye Gainda Kahan Se Aa Gaya, Renovation, a Hindi adaptation of a Marathi play written by Champra Deshpande, and a musical play, Ishq Aaha, which is based on the love lores of Punjab.

Besides theatre, he has also appeared on various TV shows and web-series. He played the role of Raunakk (Jubiliant) for all ten episodes in a mockumentary web-series called Not Fit Not Fit was a 2015 Hindi-language web series on Yo >> Read More... (2015-2016).
