Moon Moon Sen is the daughter of legendary actress Suchitra Sen. She also appeared in many Bollywood films and regional Bengali films. She also has acted in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada films too. She always intended to be part of Bollywood but citing lack of good quality films in Bollywood, she sometimes withdrew from Bollywood and concentrated in Bengali films.

She had enough days both in Hindi and Bengali cinema and continued to perform in multi-lingual films. Her mother was undoubtedly the best actress and more glamorous actress and her mother never wanted her to become an actress. Moon Moon Sen is one actress who tried to make her career in films after her marriage. She made her debut in films like ‘Andhar Bahar’ with Jackie Shroff and Anil Kapoor. She even acted with Madhuri Dixit in film’ 100 Days’.

Later, she went to act in a couple of Bollywood films that did not become any landmark in her career. She spent her childhood away from glamour although her mother was a busy actress. But Suchitra Sen sent her to a convent school and even taught her painting from Jamini Roy. She later married Bharat Dev Varma of the royal family of Tripura State in 1978. Before making her debut in films, she even taught English in a school in Kolkata. She acted in TV serials, Tele-films too and appeared in commercial advertisements. She walked in ramps with her two daughters, Raima Sen and Riya Sen Her daughters are now well-acclaimed actresses in Bengal. She could not gain any skyrocketing popularity of her mother in Bengali cinema too that created a great record.

However, she has acted with all legendary actors of Bengali cinema till date. Her memorable films include a Telugu movie ‘Sirivennela’ that fetched her Nandi Awards for best-supporting actress in 1987. Now she is only acting in a few films and concentrating her career in politics. After her mother’s death, she plunged into politics of West Bengal. She won Lok Sabha seat by contesting a Trinamool Congress ticket. People expected Moon Moon would turn into junior Suchitra, but she hardly came close to her mother’s acting prowess. But she is undoubtedly a great human being and highly literate who has a fantastic taste for the fine arts. She was born March 28, 1948, in Kolkata and now a member of Parliament.
