Valasa is scripted and directed by Suneel Kumar Reddy. Manoj Nandam, Teju Anupoju, Gowri Thalachintala, FM Babai, Vinay Mahadevan, Nalla Seenu and Samudram Venkatesh are in the cast. Ravindra Babu Yakkali produced the film. Praveen Immadi composed the music. Naresh Kumar Madiki cranked the camera and edited the film.
After the government announced a nationwide lockdown during the pandemic, people, who left their hometown for a job, suffered a lot. They didn’t even get food and they are unable to return to their places, as there are no transportation facilities offered. Many daily wage people, who don’t know what to do, decided to move to their places by walk as they didn’t have work and money. Some of the people who work in Chennai are from Hyderabad. Among those people, who decided to go back to their hometown, an IT employee abandoned by the cab driver was there. What happened to them during their travel? The movie speaks about their backstories and also their sufferings.
All the stars performed naturally and impress the audience.
The director has chosen the right topic to suit this situation. Instead of making the story with big heroes, who showcase themselves as saviors, Suneel had taken the realistic situation and made the film without any cinematic coating. Some incidents in the film project the hard-hitting reality and make us feel for it. The director had boldly showcased certain scenes that peel off some politicians and police force. The screenplay is good, but we can see certain incidents are repeated. Other than that the film shows the reality with some good performances.
What’s Not There?
It is a good attempt by the director, who aims for a realistic film without any cinematic projections. Valasa brings the hard-hitting reality about the migrant workers in front of the eyes!
