Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy is based on the real-life incidents of Uyyalawada Narasimha Reddy. Surender Reddy is the director. The film features Amitabh Bachchan, “Chiranjeevi,” “Sudeep,” Vijay Sethupathi, “Nayanthara,” Tamannaah Bhatia, Jagapati Babu, Anushka Shetty and Niharika Konidela. Amit Trivedi composed the songs and Julius Packiam looked after the score. Ratnavelu cranked the camera and Sreekar Prasad is the editor.
Narasimha Reddy is the Uyyalawada ruler. His mentor Gosayi Venkanna suggests to him how a warrior should be. Following his path, Narasimha develops his war skills. He falls in love with Lakshmi and wants to marry her. But, fate has something different and he had to marry Siddamma. Getting irritated by the East India Company’s behavior to put the nation down, he started a revolution against them. In fact, it is the first revolution for freedom. Avuku Raja and Raja Paandi join him. Together, they start finishing the enemies. What happened to Narasimha Reddy after the rebellion? Watch the film to know the rest.
Amitabh has done a guest appearance, yet he is impressive. Chiranjeevi has put his heart and soul to the movie. This is one of his best performances. Tamannaah and Nayan did their best in the given screen time. Sudeep impresses a lot and his combination scenes with Chiru are fantastic. Vijay Sethupathi has done his part naturally.
Although the film is based on the life incidents of Uyyalawada Narasimha Reddy, the team had taken the cinematic liberties. The action sequences are fantastically shot. Though they are unreal, they impress the audience. The screenplay and narration are not much impressive. The film is technically sound and the production values are excellent. We could enjoy it as a film, but not feel the real patriotism. The songs and the BGM have come out well. The VFX team should be appreciated for some fantastic visuals. O Sye Raa song is super good. The run time should have been minimized at least by 15 minutes. Yes, it is very lengthy.
What’s Not There?
Although it is not natural and has come with a lot of cinematic elements, Sye Raa is definitely a good film to watch. Good effort by the team Sye Raa!
