What is Mantra 2 all about? Is it a sequel to Mantra? Has it reproduced the magic created by Mantra? These are the questions that you tend to pose. But ironically, Mantra 2, doesn’t give a satisfying reply to these questions. 

Plot: Mantra, who lives in Vizag, and had spent most of her adult life in hostels, is shifted to Hyderabad, and lives there as a paying guest in an elderly couple’s place. Her parents had passed away. While staying in Hyderabad, Mantra is being watched by strangers and she starts believing that someone is on the verge of harming her. Mantra leaves no stone unturned in complaining about this issue to her buddy cop. And there starts the real twist to the story. 

Charmee is at ease with her character and her slim physique is worth mentioning. Chetan, whose performance is quite ok could have concentrated more on dialogue delivery. Padmini and Tanikella Bharini are earnest in their performance. 

The horror element of the film could have been given more deftness. Also the film is devoid of any novelty. The screenplay is boring and the film doesn’t live upto the same standards as Mantra. When strangers follow Charmi you are prone to be hooked to the seat and is anxious about what proceeds next in the screen. But sadly, the film doesn’t show any promise later. This maybe because too many cooks spoil the broth; the director has tried to work on many things. Sunil Kashyap Sunil Kashyap is a music composer and singer in To >> Read More... deserves mention for his good background music. But there is a number in the movie which is quite irrelevant. The cinematography is ok. The story is illogical sometimes. 

Verdict: Manthra 2 could have been made much better. There is neither good screenplay nor talented artists to elevate the film, except Charmee. Don’t go to the movie with great expectations.
