Yatchan is not a serious film as it was touted to be. It is a comedy film and the big cast does credit to their roles. The film has reference to Thala Ajith all throughout and it has worked out. You will remember some of Vishnuvardhan’s films after watching Yatchan. But it is worth the watch.
Aarya is a regular feature in Vishnu’s film; in fact, he has paired with him for the fifth time. Arya has done an excellent job in Yatchan; he has indeed come a long way and raving to prove his mettle. Kreshna, younger brother of Vishnuvardhan, has also done well. It is the first attempt of Kreshna to act under his brother’s direction and this is his first ever lead role. Dialogue delivery of Kreshna is commendable, but still he has to learn certain aspects of acting. Swati Reddy is outstanding.

The film has given importance to comedy and there is less scope for romance. Vishnuvardhan’s films are known for their styles and this film is no exception to that. and the latter’s music is the biggest strength of the film.
Plot: Arya is a great fan of Ajith and he goes even to the extent of performing milk abhishekams to the actor’s cutout. Being such the situation, he takes his way to Chennai due to certain difficulties. The film also showcases the life of Kreshna, who dreams big to become an actor. He also makes steady progress to Chennai and there comes a situation where Arya has to get into the shoes of Kreshna. This forms the crux of the story and whether Arya gets in term with his new life, forms the rest of the plot.
Vishnu has not only directed, but also produced the movie along with UTV Motion Pictures, whose very name means that the film would have got all the necessary hype. Writer Subha has co-written the movie and much was expected from him after the stupendous success of

and S J Surya shine in the crowd. One of the fortes of Yatchan is definitely its technical department. The editing of National award winning director Sreekar Prasad deserves special mention. The screenplay is dragging sometimes. Om Prakash’s camera work gives good support to the style and tone of Yatchan. Art direction also deserves special mention. The director has tried to instill some laugh-out-loud scenes in the film and has succeeded in the attempt to quite an extent. The chemistry of Arya and Kreshna seems good. This film is adapted from the novel of the same title written by the director and Subha.
Verdict: The screenplay is average and it could have been handled well. All the same, Arya has done a neat job. On the whole, a one-time-watch.
