Vanguard is an action-adventure film scripted and directed by Stanley Tong
Vanguard is security providing organization run by Jackie. The main purpose of this org is to provide security for the VIPs. The daughter of an industrialist gets kidnapped by his competitor and he approaches Vanguard security service to rescue his daughter. This is the main plot of the film. The rest of the film shows whether Jackie’s team rescued the girl or not.
Though Jackie is good at the action sequences, there are just minimal scenes. It will surely disappoint Jackie’s fans. However, he looks smart as usual with his looks and body language and impresses the audience. Yang Yang and Miya Muqi had played important roles in the film and they are perfect with their roles.
If we expect much from Jackie in Vanguard, we will be disappointed for sure. His action sequences attract us, but if they are lengthened, it would have been much better for the fans to watch their Jackie. The rest of the cast have done their part well. The VFX works are not up to the mark. The cinematography by Lee Chi Wah is fantastic and the colors used are eye-catchy. Action sequences are perfectly captured and the BGM is just Wow.
What’s Not There?
Vanguard is overall a good film, but a great disappointment for Jackie Chan fans.
