Well, "Santhanam" is one of the heroes of Vaaliba Raja, and that is enough to trigger interest. Let’s see whether Vaaliba Raja, which is hitting the screens after a prolonged delay, turns out to be.

"Sethu" falls for Nushrat Bharucha, and both develop a friendship. Though Nushrat sees him as a friend, Sethu is romantically inclined. In the meantime, Jayaprakash, the father of Sethu, decides to get Sethu get married to Vishaka Singh. Sethu is frank enough in saying to Vishaka that he is already romantically involved with another girl and will be getting married to her. Vishaka Singh understands the situation and says that she will be helpful in the love birds joining. Hence, both of them tell their parents that they want 15 days time for understanding each other.

Sethu introduces Vishaka Singh to Nushrat. The movie gets a turn when Vishaka Singh is attracted towards Sethu. Sethu, who senses this, starts reciprocating her love since Nushrat seems to be disinterested in him.

And suddenly Nushrat says that she is interested in Sethu. Sethu, who is visibly confused by this, wonders how he will manage the situation. Hence, he seeks the help of Santhanam, who is a psychiatrist.

Well, watch the movie to find out what happens to the romance element and what is the part played by Santhanam in it.

Star Performances

Sethu excels in the romantic scenes especially where he is in a dilemma to choose between two girls. Nushrat Bharucha gives a pretty impressive performance while Vishaka Singh slips off into her character with ease. Santhanam’s comedy could have been better.

Director Sai Gokul Ramnath has managed to give a romcom with an interesting twist. However, we have got used to seeing such movies in Kollywood but it’s the screenplay that makes the difference.

What’s there?

  • The twist in the movie is intriguing.
  • The cinematography of S Lokanathan  is one of the highlights of the movie.
  • Music and BGM of Ratan are commendable.

What’s not there?

  • The comedy track could have been better.
  • More attention could have been given to dialogues.

Vaaliba Raja will entertain you in bits and pieces.
