O2 is a survival thriller film scripted and directed by GS Viknesh. The music composition is by Vishal Chandrasekhar. Tamilazhagan cranked the camera, and editing is by Selva RK. "Nayanthara" plays the lead role. YouTube fame Rithvik, “Arjunan,” RNR Manohar, Aadukalam Murugadoss, Sha Ra, “Lena,” Bharath Neelakandan, Rishikanth, and Jaffer Idukki in supporting roles. Dream Warrior Pictures produced the film.

Parvathy is a single mom who lost her husband to cystic fibrosis, a disease that causes breathing difficulties. Her son Veera inherits the disease from his father. He couldn't live without an oxygen cylinder. Parvathy has a brother, who arranges for some medical treatment in Kerala with a multispecialty hospital for his nephew, Veera. So, Parvathy and Veera are all set to travel to Cochin, carrying one extra oxygen cylinder for an emergency. They travel on a bus, and due to heavy traffic that would last for hours, the bus driver arranges an alternate bus for the people on their way to Palakkad and takes a different route to Cochin. That's where the film takes a turn. What happens when they are on their way to Cochin? The rest of the film deals with it.

Star Performance

Nayanthara played her role excellently as a loving mother who could go to any extreme to save her child. Aadukalam Murugadoss, Bharath, and Lena played their part well. The YouTube kid, Rithvik, has done a fantastic job. He is so natural, and his dialogue delivery is incredible.

The survival thriller is new to Kollywood. Viknesh doesn't waste time entering into the simple story. With a simple character intro, we are taken into the story. The story happens on a bus, and the cinematographer's role is crucial in the limited space. Tamil has done his job excellently, and the editing is impressive too. Yet, the climax should have been a bit explanative. Though the audience knows what happened, they want to reveal the happenings openly. The director has defined the characters well and executed them pretty decently. The music is not much impressive in all the scenes. Yet, it is okayish.

What's There?

  • A different script
  • Excellent performances

What's Not There?

  • A few minor flaws

The survival thriller is neatly executed, and the stars' performances make the audience a non-boring film though it is shot in a limited space.
