Draupathi” is scripted and directed by “Mohan G.” The film has Richard Rishi and Sheela Rajkumar in the lead roles. “Karunas,” Jeeva Ravi and Nishanth are in the supporting cast. “Jubin” composed the music. Manoj Narayan cranks the camera and S Devaraj edits the film. Draupathi is a crowd-funded film.

Richard and Sheela are husband and wife. He is a Silambam artist. Richard’s uncle is a big shot in the town and he has a daughter. A beverage company enters the town and involves in fraudulent activities. Richard’s family is against the company. Meanwhile, Richard’s niece is said to have done a secret marriage in the registrar's office and after hearing this, her father leaves the world. Some plans are going on to kill Sheela and her sister. In between this, Richard goes to jail. Who saves Sheela? Did Richard get bail? Watch the film to know the rest.

Star Performance

Richard and Sheela fit in the roles perfectly and impress the audiences. Karunas is also good with his dialogues and expressions.

This is yet another film based on the communal clashes. Mohan G firmly insists on certain messages. He had done his best. Richard and Sheela are good choices and they are natural with their performances. The dialogues are sharp and Sheela did her part excellently. The cinematography and music are okayish. The production value is okayish for the budget. Although the director has insisted on the communal issues, we find something didn’t gel well. If some more interesting scenes are added to engage the audiences, it would have been better. Although Richard, Karunas and Sheela are good, if the movie has some more familiar artists, it would have helped.

What’s There?

  • The screenplay is quick
  • Stars had performed well

What’s Not There?

  • Some more engaging scenes might have helped the film

Draupathi is a good effort by the makers to pinpoint some issues in society. If you are interested in watching movies of these types, then this is for you!
