'Calls' is directed by J Sabarish. The film has "V J Chitra" in the lead role. The film released after a few months of her death. Calls has the supporting cast of Delhi Ganesh, Nizhalgal Ravi, Vinodhini Vaidyanathan, Devadarshini Chetan, “Sriranjani” and Jeeva Ravi.
Nandini works in a BPO. As she couldn’t achieve the target fixed, she was about to lose her job. She tries to convince the customers to retain her job. But, her efforts went useless, as none of the customers lent their ears to her. Did she lose her job? What happens next? The answers form the rest of the plot.
Chitra’s performance is elegant and she had given her best to bring some positivity to her character. Sriranjani is also natural with her performance. The rest of the stars did what is asked.
The story deals with social issues, crimes, etc. The director has inserted many twists and turns into the story. But, they didn’t work out well. Revenge sequences should have been shot well and similarly, the comedy scenes didn’t give the expected results. Although some characters are developed well with some acting scope, the rest of the characters are not used properly. Too many subplots and characters spoiled the film.
What’s Not There?
The film has nothing new to offer except for the performances of Chitra and Sriranjani.
