“Bigil” is the action thriller directed by Atlee Kumar. Rayappan is a don, who does good to his people and works for the betterment of their lives. His son Michael is a footballer. Rayappan believes that if his son becomes a champion in Football, the lives of his people might get uplifted. But. Michael ends up his career, taking violence on his hands. After a few years, he gets an opportunity to coach a football team, as his friend, who had been coaching the team is severely injured. Did he make it right? Did Rayappan’s dream come true? Watch the film to know the rest!

Star Performance

Vijay performed well as Rayappan. Although the aged character is new to him, he had done it neatly and impresses his fans. Vijay’s voice modulation and body language made Rayappan, the real show-stealer. Kathir is young and energetic. Jackie Shroff is the usual villain. The rest of the stars have done their best.

The script is a usual one and the screenplay is a quick pacer. The scenes where Rayappan is present is fully energetic and Atlee had designed the character well than any other characters in the film. However, Nayan character should have been designed better. The football sequences are planned well and they really create Goosebumps. AR Rahman’s music is stunning. If a scene looks nice with beautiful colors, then the credit goes to the cinematographer. In that way, we have to thank GK Vishnu for each and every scene for his stunning visuals. Ruben’s editing is good.

What’s There?

  • Vijay’s Rayappan is the biggest plus
  • GK Vishnu’s cinematography is just stunning
  • AR Rahman’s BGM

What’s Not There?

  • Vijay and Nayanthara scenes are boring
  • VFX works should have been better

Although there are a lot of pluses and a few negatives, this film is a masala movie mixed with emotions and a lot of Goosebumps moments for Vijay fans. A definite treat for Thalapathy fans! In short, Bigil is a mix and match of emotional, gangster and sports film.
