Nanpakal Nerathu Mayakkam Movie Review

Nanpakal Nerathu Mayakkam is directed by Lijo Jose Pellissery. “Mammootty” produced the film in association with Lijo Jose Pellissery. Theni Eswar cranked the camera, and “Deepu S Joseph” edited the film. The film features Mammootty, “Ashokan,” Ramya Suvi, Ramya Pandian, Vipin Atley, Ashwath Ashokkumar, Rajesh Sharma, “T Suresh Babu,” Gireesh Perincheeri, “Thennavan,” Balan Parakkal, and Poo Ramu.

Plot

A group of tourists from Kerala visits Velankanni in Tamilnadu. Jameson, one of the tourists, stops the bus while they return to Kerala. He enters a Tamil home and speaks Tamil fluently, and starts acting as Sundaram, one of their family members. Benny, a nurse among the tourists, sedates him. After a few hours of sleep, Jameson regains consciousness. Why did he behave like a Tamil? The rest of the film follows that.

Star Performance

Mammootty impressed the audience again with his natural performance. His body language and dialogue delivery in Tamil are fantastic. His transformation from Jameson to Sundaram is excellent. The rest of the stars did what was required.

Analysis

The script is different, and none would’ve guessed the plot. Mammootty has the guts to produce the film with a different set and actors from the Tamil film industry, and he succeeded in his attempt. Lijo’s direction receives applause from the audience. The dialogues are neat. The stars fit well in the given roles, though everyone had a minimal screen presence. Mammootty’s transformation from one character to the other is just fantastic, and he deserves the title, Megastar. The visuals are beautiful, and the BGM is decent. The film has good production value and is sound on the technical side.

Verdict

Mammootty has the capability of any kind of role like the ones he did in The Priest, “Puzhu” and “Rorsarch.” All these recent films show his ability to ace any role. Nanpakal Nerathu Mayakkam is one of the gems in Mammootty’s crown. The film is definitely watchable once!
