Plot

Aashik, Siddharth and Vijay are three friends trying to make their big break in the film industry. They're helped out by Scobo, an older gentleman who teaches them how to navigate life and it's nuances.

Analysis

Avarude Raavukal is a classic feel-good movie, focused on the stories of three young men, namely Ashik, Siddharth and Vijay. All three of them have one thing in common- they're trying to break into the Malayalam film industry. First, let's look at Ashik. He's well experienced as a stage performer, yet struggles to find success in terms of work in the industry. Siddharth, on the other hand, is inexperienced and doesn't have the proper credentials for any sort of film industry work, due to his background as an engineering graduate- yet he finds work, even after a sub-par interview. Vijay's main struggle is not finding work, like the other two. His struggle is focused on his anger issues, which his girlfriend Meghna supports him through. All three friends are helped along their path by an older gentleman, Scobo Johnson, who serves as a Mr. Miyagi-esque figure, guiding them and offering them sage advice.

Verdict

Avarude Raavukal has its fair share of flaws- the plot is predictable, the ending may be considered alienating or strange, and some of the cameos seem unnecessary. But it does have some significant positives. The movie has a generally positive message about perseverance in times of difficulty, the dialogue is very well written, and the humor is done tastefully. As established in the beginning, it's a classic feel-good success story, and everyone likes a success story- it is safe to say the movie is worth the watch.
