Shivalinga has hit the screen today after much anticipation. After delivering a stellar performance in Killing Veerappan, Shiva Rajkumar has acted in a horror-thriller film. Well, let’s see how the movie turns out to be.

Plot

The movie centers on a murder which was wrongly proved to be a suicide owing to the supporting evidence. And Shiva Rajkumar plays the prominent role of a CID officer who handles the case and brings to light the real nature of the murder.

Star Performances

Shiva Rajkumar has essayed a completely different role in Shivalinga, and he has done his role with elan. Needless to say, he will not disappoint the viewers. Vedhicka’s role is woven with maturity, and she matches the competence of Shiva Raj Kumar. Sadhu Kokila, Pradeep Rawat, and Urvashi ably support, and their characters also help in taking the movie forward. Well, watch out for the pigeon in the movie, which also has a significant role.

Analysis

Director P Vasu, who has grabbed the attention of the Kannada audience through his outstanding venture like Apthamitra, Aptharakshaka, has directed Shivalinga. This is the director’s first film with Shiva Rajkumar.

P Vasu has yet again touched his favorite subject horror, and one tends to notice some similarities to Aptamitra. The movie has drawn inspiration from the Bond series too. However, the director has interspersed all the elements that are required to satisfy the local audience.

Owing to the popularity of Killing of Veerappan in Sandalwood and Kollywood, the other industries also got attracted by Shivanna’s films and hence Shivalinga will be dubbed in Telugu too.

What’s there?

  • V Harikrishna’s BGM and music is outstanding.
  • The movie manages to keep you engrossed.
  • The movie proceeds in a brisk manner.

What’s not there?

The director seems to have not got over his fancy towards horror movies. However, this is not a major flaw.

Verdict

The movie won’t disappoint SRK fans.
