Boxer is a movie that had garnered great anticipation from the fans much ahead of its release. How will be their favorite star Dhananjay be seen in this flick? This is the expectation of the cine lovers.

Dhananjay has lost his parents, and he is a recluse. He builds castles in the air that he would be a boxer. In the meantime, to add to the romance element of the flick, Kruthika Jayakumar, who is blind gives him the much-needed strength and hope. Her naivety and care draw Dhananjay towards her. Do Dhananjay’s dreams come true?

Nowadays most of the stars who are just one or two films old are raving to prove their mettle. They want to show that they have the fire in the belly to make it big. And it seems Dhananjay has indeed come out with a winner through Boxer. Dhananjay had done great hard work for this flick. The flick was screened in over 160 theaters all over Karnataka, and the expectations were indeed high.

Remember the flick City Lights of Charlie Chaplin? Well, that has inspired many filmmakers and Boxer is one such film wherein there is surely an inspiration. But again, to be precise, it is the adaptation of the Korean flick Always/Only You. The film mainly deals with the relationship between the hero and heroine.

Star Performances

Dhananjay fits the role to the T. His hard work has paid off and his onscreen presence oozes magic. Dialogue delivery, action, dancing…whatever it is he has proved his mettle in every department. The role of a blind girl is indeed challenging and the lead girl, debutante (in Kannada) Kruthika has done with much aplomb. Charandeep, in a villainous role, has done full justice to his role.

What’s there?

1.    The stunts done by Dhananjay add luster to the movie. Kudos to stunt master Ravi Varma!
2. The direction of Preetham Gubbi is appealing.
3. The songs play a major part in the narration of the movie. And music director Hari Krishna has come up with superb melodies.
4.    When the Indian flicks are stuffed with several characters, Boxer is like a whiz of fresh air. There are only a few characters in it, and you can connect with them emotionally.

What’s not there?
1.    The plot of the film is predictable.
2.    The movie is void of good comedy track.

Watch it for Dhananjay. He has lived up to the expectations. He is sure a star to watch out for!
