The entire chain of events takes place on the sea, (and even under the sea). But it is not just a sea adventure like “Jaws” or “Life of Pi”. The adventure quotient is, however, there in this film too as it is a story about survival on the sea, but there is also a floating psychological drama taking place simultaneously as distinct from the adventure.

Plot: A group of seven long lost school friends gets together for a reunion of sorts. It is actually meant to be a pleasure trip on the high seas, aboard the luxury yacht of Bakshi (Santosh) – the most resourceful of the lot. He is with his oomph girl partner Jeanine (Suzana); the ever-popular Anshul (Varun); the husband-wife pair of Sabina (Manjari), and Deepak (Jitin) with their one-year-old baby Sara; Aman (Sumit) the wealthy vagabond, and finally the bold and enterprising Gunjan (Madhurima).

While it is also Sara’s first birthday, the meet was planned to discuss nostalgically their past lives, and savor the memories of the good old days. Their celebrations, however, turn sour when all of them jump into the sea, leaving baby Sara on board, and are caught in the violent sea, unable to come back to the yacht. As they all struggle and hobble between the deep sea and the blue skies above, they remember and go through their past tragedies and heartbreaks. It is at once an emotional undersea journey as much as a fight for survival, with sharks crisscrossing, and fatigue is taking over the will to fight it out. All this while, the child Sara remains on board and cries out to draw attention to her lonely panic. It is a pleasure jaunt gone horribly wrong, interwoven as it is with the bitter memories of the past.

Review: For a film which has been publicized for its use of the 3D format, the makers of the film do not seem to have used it the maximum extent. Especially with so many seaside and underwater locales to choose from. It also seems that the makers have compromised elsewhere for the use of the 3D technique and the costs of undersea shooting at overseas locations. There is an air of casualness all over, and director Gurmeet Singh, who is also credited with the story, seems to have taken this assignment more like a private video shooting an assignment for a team of amateurs being passed off as movie actors while enjoying an all-expenses paid holiday.

In fact, it appears that the director gets confused at one stage to decide if the rescue theme should be highlighted more, or if it is the underlying theme of past emotions surfacing back. In the end, he just plays up the attractive females appearing to have come for a calendar shoot contest.

Verdict: Except for the 3D gizmo, there is nothing much more to be touted unless someone feels having full skin show to be a plus point for spending one and half hours in a movie hall.
