The Power is an action thriller film scripted and directed by Mahesh Manjrekar. The movie has Vidyut Jamwal and Shruti Haasan in the lead roles. Sachin Khedekar, Jisshu Sengupta, Sonal Chauhan and Amol Parashar are in the supporting roles.
Kalidas Thakur and Rana are from a village. They settle in the city and work hard to control the city. After some years, they become powerful people and Kalidas leads among them. Kalidas’ son Devidas is a shrewd youth. When there is a fight for power, some people aim at them. Besides this political war, people, who are affected by them are also taking the charge. Who wins the war? Was Kalidas saved? What happened to Devidas? The answers form the rest of the story.
Vidyut fits well in the role and had given his best. Shruti looks good but lacks some depth in her performance. Mahesh and Sachin had done a decent job. The rest of the stars are okayish with the given role.
The film is about illegal business and power and the script is not fresh. The screenplay by Mahesh should have been crisper, as it should stay strong among the similar contents. But, it lacks some hold and the characters are not designed properly. Although the script travels in the right way, certain scenes lack grip. Although there are action sequences, they had not created any impact. The same goes for the emotional scenes, especially the scenes with Shruti. The action sequences should have been shot in a better way and the makers should have avoided the slow-motion sequences, as it tests the patience. The BGM is not up to the mark. The cinematography department has done its job better.
