Living up to the reputation of one’s mentor is a commendable feat. In this regard, does debutant director Zaishan Qadri, who has worked with Anurag Kashyap Born on 10th September 1972, Anurag Kashyap has es >> Read More... before, win?

Plot: The story revolving around gangsters pop up in Hindi films now and then, and this time this film deals with the lives of six college boys, who happen to be hooligans. They violate the law, and by hook or crook, want to gain a coveted job in a company. But there is a twist in the story and watch it to find out.. Zeishan has handled both the story and screenplay and lives up to the expectations of Kashyap for his verve for details. The dialogues of the film have the trait of Kashyap’s films. A couple of the scenes in the film, including the climax one, are noteworthy. As for histrionics, all have tried their best, but somehow the performances seem dramatic. All the same Sanjay Mishraa, Mukul Dev Mukul Dev was born in Khatri Punjabi family. There is a sort of equanimity between the women and men in the film.

The crafty humour of the film is noteworthy. But on the flip side, you are just left to wonder what the real crux of the film is all about. There is still more for Zeishan to learn about the nuances of filmmaking and the script is quite weak. The story is in predictable lines. There is nothing appreciable about the music. Naren Gedia’s camera work is average.

Attaining your goal through hook or by crook, friendship and greed are touched in this film, which is good here and there. In his attempt to attract the audience the director misses to add fervor to the central theme. The director could have very well kept the audience gripped to their seats, but he somehow struggles. After giving such a neat writing in Gangs of Wasseypur, the expectation is indeed more. But this time remember that, he is the director of the ship. And in this regard Zeishan should be appreciated for his novice attempt, though faulting at many places. Now read the first line of the review.
