Ek Duaa is a family drama. Ram Kamal Mukherjee scripted and directed the film. Esha Deol, Barbiee Sharma, Shreyansh Nick Nag, and Rajveer Ankur Singh are cast in the main roles. Esha Deol produced the film. Modhura Palit is the cinematographer.
Abida and Sulaiman are husband and wife and are fighting hard to meet their ends. They have two children, a boy, and a girl, Duaa. Sulaiman is a taxi driver who runs an old taxi left by his late father. Due to the tough financial situation, Sulaiman’s friend suggests he sell his taxi and join as a driver in a corporate taxi company. But, Sulaiman is sentimental about his father’s vehicle and hesitate to do that. He sends his son to school, but Duaa stays at home. Sulaiman’s mother wants them to have one more son, who might bring them luck. How do Sulaiman and Abida solve their family issues? The rest of the film deals with it.
Esha has emoted pretty well. Her expressions and body language are good. Rajveer is good in his role. The kid, Barbiee, looks cute and attracts everyone.
The script is not something new. It deals with poverty and gender discrimination. We wonder why people are still discriminating the gender in this modern world. While many treat men and women equally, some families still look down on a girl child. Ram Kamal had already worked with short films of the social genre. This one gets added to it. The cinematography is quite neat, and the BGM too. The dialogues are not too sharp yet okayish.
What’s Not There?
The film has good content, though it is not new. Esha and Rajveer are good in their roles, and the direction is okayish. As the film will not consume much time, it can be watched once!
