‘Aasma’ is a Bollywood drama film released on January 23, 2009 and directed by Rohit Nayyar.
The film is based on a bunch of college students who start a theater group. The group contains Hrishitaa Bhatt and Shubh as their lead, and some other artists like Shubhashish, Seema Biswas, and Mushtaq in their group. They all have an ultimate goal to touch the sky with their talent and brilliance. But, luck has not been fair to them in their starting, and they face some difficulty. For some time, they do not get the offer for the shows, which causes more problems. Suddenly, their main sponsor, played by Sachin Khedekar, quits the group, and this causes the downfall of the group. At last, the group member finds that their lead, Shubh, has been affected by HIV.
The plot of the film look like it’s been inspired by various Bollywood films. The director watched some Bollywood films like Rang De Basanti, Rock On, Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na and merged all of them to create this film.
The lead actor of the film, Shubh, totally fails to impress the audience, as he has not worked according to the demand of his character. As the female lead, Hrishita Bhatt did an alright performance, and she looked pretty in the film. All other supporting cast did an alright performance.
1. The film has good music, especially songs in the voice of Kailash Kher.
2. The film has a great piece of cinematography.
WHAT’S NOT THERE?
1. The film has a very faulty and poor screenplay.
2. The direction of the film is improper.
3. Worst piece of editing.
There is nothing new in the film, but if you have time to waste, then you can watch it.
