There are always many coming-of-age movies that tell us about the hardships of growing up, about the transition from high school to college and letting go of all the childhood memories. This movie focuses on this same stage in life, but only from the perspective of your toys. Toy Story 3 brings back Andy’s favorite gang of toys with Woody and Buzz Lightyear, as they realize how Andy has now grown up and would have to leave them to go away for college.

The story starts with Andy getting ready to set off for college. Even though it has been very long since he has played with all his toys, he still decides to take one of them, Woody, along with him to college and plan to leave the rest of them in his attic. A misunderstanding leads the other toys to believe that Andy was planning on throwing them away. This upsets them and they soon decide to leave for Sunnyside Daycare with Barbie. In the beginning everything seems happy and joyous at the Daycare where many children come to play with the toys. Buzz Lightyear and the gang seem to like the place very much as Lots-o-Huggin’ Bear (known as just Lotso) give them a pleasant tour of the seemingly perfect daycare. Here, they also meet many more new toys like Kent, Monkey, Big Baby Doll, and more. However, they soon find out about how all the toys in the Daycare are actually trapped under the cruel authority of Lotso and they have to devise a plan to escape from his evil clutches.

The first two prequels of this movie may be about the relationship that a boy shared with his toys, but this last sequel is mostly about the toys coming of age too, and learning how to save themselves from danger. There is definitely a lot more intense action as the toys try to plan and execute their escape and also when they were being trapped in the daycare. However there are also some funny scenes when Buzz Lightyear gets rebooted and starts talking in Spanish and also when Mr. Potato-Head loses his eye, but it keeps seeing on its own. In the end, this movie really teaches us about the importance of friendship and always standing up for your loved ones. This movie may not be as comic as its prequels but it definitely is a fun, well-made and jolly movie.

For the most mature and adventurous Toy Story movie among the trilogy which has a lot to teach us about friendship and love, I would give this movie 4 popcorn tubs out of 5.
