At the outset, there are a host of movies that are based on the premise of the battle between the good and the bad. The ‘Priest’, too, is one such film which is set in a post-apocalyptic world. The movie takes it’s basic plotline from a Korean Comic, which shares the same name. This movie was helmed by Scott Stewart, and had a strong performance from Paul Bettany He transcends his acts in portraying different rol >> Read More... who reprised the titular role.

Plot:

Nothing is rather extraordinary about the plotline. There is an air of bitterness between humanity and vampires. Hence, to defend and protect themselves, the humans have build hard-walled cities under an umbrella organization called, “ The Church”. Here, the Priest (Paul Bettany) lives a rather concealed life. Later, he comes to know that his brother and sister-in-law have been attacked by the Vampires. He also comes to know that his niece has been abducted. So, he sheds his recluse and takes things in his own hands. The Priest, along with the Sheriff of the town, take on the journey to rescue Lucy, the niece. However, the Priest is not ably supported by the Church, as the Head refuses to believe in the existence of the Vampires. It all boils down to the end where the Priest emerges victorious and rescues Lucy. He lives at the end of the day to recount his tale.

Verdict:

Though, this is not an edge-of-the-seat thriller movie, it can be definitely a one-time watch. The plot-line too is nothing that sets it apart and is mundane. So, just for the sheer enjoyment of a movie, which is tagged as science-fiction, horror it can be given a round of applause and a single watch to appreciate all the efforts.
