Plot-

A driver ( Ryan Gosling Ryan Gosling is a Canadian artist. Born at 2:34 am >> Read More... ) with no name lives in Echo Park, a Los Angeles apartment. He works for Shannon ( Bryan Cranston Ostentatiously known for his anti-hero role of Wal >> Read More... ) as a garage mechanic. He is also indulging in other labors, such as movie stuntman and a getaway driver for criminals. It seems like he is escaping from his past as he falls in love with a woman, Irene ( Carey Mulligan Carey Mulligan is a young English actress. She is >> Read More... ) who lives in his neighbor, and whose husband is in prison, so she’s looking after her child alone. The driver, concerned about the safety of Irene and her son, steals a Ford Mustang and offers to act as the getaway driver as the pawnshop job. Irene’s husband comes out of the jail and finds himself surrounded by the crime world, so the driver steps in to save the entire family. Shannon is trying to set up a race team using the gangland money. He asked the driver to hide the money, but he refused. For saving Irene ‘s family, he turns against every gangster.

Nino (Ron Perlman) and Bernie (Albert) are after the driver’s life. They kill Shannon as he is coming in their way. Then, one of the Jewish mobsters make a deal with the driver that Irene and her family will be safe, if he returns the money. However, Bernie attacked him by stabbing him in his stomach. Somehow, the driver survives, and he fatally stabs Bernie in the neck and drives away.

Analysis-

It’s a dramatically violent film, but one of the coolest movies around. The film has a glossy Hollywood polish, and the movie has an interesting plot. The incomplete love story of the driver and Irene gives the divergent hype to this film. However, most importantly, the director, Nicholas, made a smart choice by keeping the driver unknown. That’s the X-factor of the movie.

Star Performance-

Ryan is known for experimenting with his characters in films. As a driver, he proved that he succeeds in experimenting. Bryan, on the other hand, seems restricted to his character, though he did quite well. Carey has a limited role to play, and she justified that.

What’s there-

As a crime-based movie, Nicholas made this one of the brightest crime movies with a flavor of love story. The film plotted well.

What’s not there-

Irene could have been given some more portion to show her caliber.

Verdict-

This is a stunning picture with an exciting plot.
