hit the screens in 2014. The movie falls into the category of satire. Justin Simien directed the movie and developed the screenplay. Also, he co-produced the movie. The film centers the mounting racial discrimination at an esteemed Ivy League College. The movie Dear White People is an approach to racial discrimination by African American students. The movie has important actors as Tyler James Williams and Tessa Thompson.
The College has been the place that most often strikes the headlines for some troublesome blackface parties. The movie has four African American heroes dealing with racial discrimination within the campus. Racist attacks mount in a college with white students dominating the population. The clash is triggered when the employee of a humor magazine throws a Halloween party that proves to be offensive. One cannot avoid the obvious truth that the movie Dear White People has messed up a bit.
The plot seems to flounder, the characters are not brought to light soon, and the vision is not broad enough to cover class and gender problems. But, there is no dearth of ideas in the movie. A fraternity party turns ugly and makes our hearts jump into the throat. During some scenes, the audiences are left squirming and fidgeting in their seats. The movie is about meandering one’s way via a confused world with pre-conceived notions and objections. Tyler James Williams is a tremendous actor and audiences may soon expect hit movies from him. The climax is sweet and issues are resolved once and for all.
The audiences have glimpses behind the magnificent college walls where there is a feeling of insecurity and unpredictability. The movie presents a place where racial politics is dominant, and a person is identified more with his race. It is a must-watch movie for people of the present generation.
