Plot: Jackie Robinson joined 'Dodgers' in the year 1945. Due to his best performance, he shines in the practice sessions. His teammates together sign a petition against his presence in the team. With the help of his manager, he proceeds to be in the team. When Alan Tudyk, the opponent's manager, taunts him, Jackie puts full force and rocks the game. His teammates started encouraging him, and they accepted him. Jackie was the first one to erupt the 'racial integration' topic in the field of sports.
Analysis: This movie is not about a team winning a game. This is about Robinson's struggle to get a recognition for the black people. Brian did an excellent job by bringing a script with full power on screen. The movie was so bonding that it hugely created an emotional impact with the audience. Some great baseball moments were also recreated on screen. The production and the design team's work deserves an applause, as they turned the raw movie into a periodic piece. The recreation of the scene of Pee Wee Reese supporting Robinson was so powerful. Mark Isham's background score was soul stirring.
Star Performance: Chadwick is amazing in delivering such an impressive performance. He aptly represents Jackie. He has observed Jackie's mannerisms and style well, that he completely reproduced it on screen. One can feel the same feel that Jackie had experienced during his time. The scene in which Chadwick breaks down moves us.
What's Not There: The length of the movie is not short. It is filled with some slow motion scenes; that may make the atmosphere a bit boring at times.
Verdict: A realistic biopic. Must watch.
