who breathed his last yesterday was a renowned part of the golden era of Malayalam cinema. Paravoor Bharathan was a theater artiste before he proved his mettle in the film industry. Having started his Malayalam film career in 1951 he was a “Villian” to reckon with.He tasted success through the film “Karutha Kai” wherein his performance in a negative role won him applauds. He didn’t just concentrate on villain roles but later did some comedian roles too, much to the delight of his fans. “Raktha Bandham was his first film and his role in Chemmeen, which celebrated classic 50 years in Malayalam cinema, was a pivotal one. He has also played various character roles and was active in Malayalam cinema till 2009. There is no denying the fact that Paravoor Bharathan did justice to his roles.
He worked for around 7 decades in Malayalam cinema and he has performed in nearly 300 regional films. The year 1951 saw him entering the film industry and since then he was an essential part of Indian cinema. His memorable films include “Aniyan Bava Chetan Bava”, In Harihara Nagar”, “Meleparambil Aanveedu”and “Aniathipravu”. It is sad that Bharathan never received any government awards.
