Every time a Bollywood actor signs on to a new movie, whether it be a big-budget or small film, they are guaranteed significant compensation. However, there are times when actors accept next to nothing in exchange for their services, just because they enjoy playing the part, or as a favor or sign of respect to the director. These are the times when celebrities' kinder, more compassionate sides are exposed. They are humans, after all, who are fortunate enough to work in a field they love. Additionally, inexperienced performers have been known to forgo their initial paychecks in exchange for a breakthrough part. Let's look at some of the Bollywood films in which the performers performed for no payment or a meager tip.

1. Nawazuddin Siddiqui

For his part in the Manto film under the direction of Nandita Das, Nawazuddin Siddiqui was paid Re. But he was not alone. For their roles in the movie, co-stars Rishi Kapoor, Javed Akhtar, Gurdas Maan, Rajshree Deshpande, Ranvir Shorey, and Swanand Kirkire did not receive payment. Manto gained praise at the Asia Pacific Screen Awards, where Siddiqui won the Best Actor Award, as well as the Cannes, Toronto, and other film festivals.

2. Amitabh Bachchan

Amitabh Bachchan, a talented actor, volunteered to work for free on the movie Black with Rani Mukherjee. He stated in an interview that being a part of such a great movie as this was more important to him than anything else.

3. Rani Mukerji

From the very beginning of her career, Rani Mukerji established her value in the film industry. She also refused to accept payment for her part in her closest friend Karan Johar's film, Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, despite being one of the top actresses of the 1990s.

4. Shahid Kapoor

Shahid Kapoor received plaudits for his remarkable performance in Vishal Bhardwaj's film Haider. In addition, despite the movie's enormous success, the actor chose not to charge for his performance because he wanted to keep the film's budget consistent.

5. Sonam Kapoor

Sonam Kapoor accepted the number 11 as a sign of gratitude for her performance in Bhaag Milkha Bhaag alongside Farhan Akhtar.

6. Shahrukh Khan

Director Kamal Haasan said two years ago at a movie event that Shah Rukh Khan, who had a lengthy appearance in Hey Ram, still hadn't accepted any payment for the movie.

7. Farhan Akhtar

Farhan Akhtar received only Rs 11 as a small payment for all the time and effort he put into bringing Milkha Singh to the big screen. Sonam Kapoor, like Farhan, agreed to take an Rs. 11 salary for her part in Bhaag Milkha Bhaag out of pure faith in the story.

8. Deepika Padukone

Deepika had the good fortune to make her film debut with Shah Rukh Khan in Farah Khan's Om Shanti Om back in 2007. Ironically, the highest-paid Bollywood actress at the time took the part for nothing.

9. Salman Khan

For his roles in the movies Tees Maar Khan, Ajab Prem Ki Gajab Kahani, Om Shanti Om, and Son of Sardaar, Salman Khan did not receive any payment.

10. Katreena Kaif

Due to her close friendship with Karan Johar, Katrina Kaif performed the dance number Chikni Chameli from the movie Agneepath for free, wowing everyone in the process.
