Every Disney movie's primary message is "happily ever after." They consummate us into a magical world utterly different from the real world. But some films show us reality. Here are some sad films by Disney. 

1. Lilo And Stitch

Lilo And Stitch is an animated children's film released in 2002. This film was directed by Christopher Sanders, Dean Deblois, and Chris Sanders. This film revolves around a lonely little girl who adopts a mischievous blue-colored dog. The dog is an alien. This film is sad because Lilo loses her parents in a car accident. She is raised by her adult sister.

2. The Lion King

The Lion King is an action film released in 1994. Roger Allers and Rob Minkoff are the directors of this film. This film is about a cub who gets separated from his kingdom after his father's death, returns to the kingdom after so many years, and seeks revenge. The saddest moments of this film are Simba getting separated from the domain and the tragic death of Mufasa.

3. Into The Woods

Into The Woods is a musical drama film released in 2014. This film was directed by Rob Marshall. The main cast of this film is Meryl Streep, Emily Blunt, and James Corden. This film revolves around multiple fairy tales from Disney movies, but with the dark side of these stories. They showed us the reality instead of happily ever after.

4. Big Hero 6

Big Hero 6 is an action film released in 2014. Don Hall and Chris Williams are the directors of this film. This film revolves around a child who makes a superhero team with the help of a robot and seeks revenge for his brother’s death. The saddest part was when Tadashi Hamada died. His death scene was very tragic.

5. Up

Up is an animated film released in 2009. This film was directed by Pete Doctor and Bob Peterson. This film is about an aged man who ties 1000 balloons to his house to fly to South America to fulfill his wife's last wish. The wife is dying, and his will to fulfill her last wish is heart-touching. 

6. Clouds

Clouds is a drama film released in 2020. This film was directed by Justin Baldoni. The main cast of this film is Fin Argus, Neve Campbell, and Sabrina Carpenter. This film is about a boy with cancer who tries to pursue his dream of becoming a musician.

7. Pocahontas

Pocahontas is an animated film released in 1995. Mike Gabriel and Eric Goldberg are the directors of this film. This film is about John Smith, who stops a war between a tribe and the British. This film is sad because the real life of Pocahontas was traumatic and depressed. The colonizers made her life hell. 

8. Brother Bear

Brother Bear is a children's film released in 2003. This film was directed by Aaron Blaise and Robert Walker. This film is about a man who becomes a bear and befriends a cub. The saddest parts of this film are Sitka's death and the confession of Kenai to Koda. 

9. Bambi

Bambi is an animated children’s film released in 1942. Many directors together made this beautiful movie. This film is about a fawn, Bambi, who travels the entire forest with her friends to learn the delights of the woodland. The saddest part of this film is the death of Bambi's mother. 

10. Old Yeller

Old Yeller is a children’s film released in 1959. This film was directed by Robert Stevenson. The main cast of this film is Dorothy McGuire, Fess Parker, and Tommy Kirk. This film is about a teenager who adopts a stray dog. The sad part of this film is the death of the stray dog living in the boy's broken heart.
