Tamil Villain Raghuvaran

Raghuvaran was an Indian actor and has given two and a half decades of his life to South Indian Film industry. He has given around 200 Tamil, and few Malayalam, Telugu, Kannada and Hindi films. He has always been famous for his villainous role. He was born on 10 December 1959 in Kollengode, Kerala. He was the son of Chunkamandathu Velayudhan and Kasthuri.

His father was an hotelier. He completed his primary education from St. Ann's Matric. Higher Secondary School, Coimbatore and took his piano lessons from Trinity College London. To make a carrier in acting, he dropped his college (Govt. Arts College) where he was studying History. Later he did diploma in acting from Adyar Film Institute in Chennai. He married Rohini, an actress, in 1996 and got divorced in 2004. They had a son, Rishi Varan, in 1998.

The couple later got separated and divorced in 2004. Before joining industry (1982), he was a part of Chennai Kings, an acting drama troupe. His character, Father Alphonso, in the Malayalam movie Daivathinte Vikruthikal, based on M. Mukundan's novel, brought him critical acclaims. Though he started his career as a leading hero in the movies it was his villainous roles that brought him recognition.

His role of villain in ‘Silk Silk Silk’ was appreciated, and there was no looking back after that. Raghuvaran had a desire to play a variety of roles from supporting roles to hero to villain’s role, and it was astonishing that each role that he played well suited him as if they were made particularly for him. His had his style, his unique way to deliver the dialogues and the way he used to modulate his baritone voice according to his character, these all were an added advantage for him.

He gave his best shot in what he did that he would often steal the limelight from his well-known co-stars. His act in Malayalam, Tamil and Telugu movies has brought him many accolades and awards. Raghuvaran died on 19 March 2008 due to organ failure that was caused by excessive alcohol consumption.
