Abhirami was born on July 26, 1983 in Kerala to Gopikumar and Pushpa. She went to Christ Nagar High School for a part of her primary education. She later went to Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan. She went to college at College of Wooster where Psychology and Communications were her major subjects. She started off her career as an anchor for a TV show. She has acted in a series of Malayalam, Tamil and Kannada films since 1995. She acted in as many as 7 films in 2001. She acted in a Telugu film “Thank You Subbarao” in 2002.
