Tamil Lyricist Kutti Revathi

Dr. S. Revathi, whose pen name is Kutti Revathi is an Indian lyricist/poet, activist, and a doctor. She published three books of poetry. She is the editor of Panikkudam, which is a literary quarterly for women's writing, and the first Tamil feminist magazine. After several literary meetings and reviewing poetry collections by other students, Revathi began working on some of her creations.

After completing school, she studied Siddha medicine and received a bachelor's degree in Siddha medicine and surgery, which is one of the oldest medical systems in the world. It derived from her native Tamil Nadu. Revathi had pursued her doctoral research in medical anthropology at the Madras Institute of Development Studies.

She received the Sigaram 15 Faces of Future award for literature from India Today. She awarded a travel grant in 2005 by the Sahitya Academy to visit leading litterateurs from India. Revathi is a contemporary Tamil poet and published several controversial poetry collections. Revathi was signed in for the 2013 movie Maryan two-and-a-half years ago when the movies' director Bharatbala was searching for a Tamil scholar.

She wrote lyrics of the hit song "Yenga Pona Raasa" and the song Nenjae Ezhu, which featured in the same film. After the musical success of the movie, especially the song Nenjae Ezhu, her lyrics critically appreciated. Revathi wrote the lyrics for the song "Ennile Maha Oliyo" that featured on MTV Coke Studio (India).

She has written a song for the music composed by Oscar composer AR Rahman in the Tamil Version of the film MOM, which was directed by Ravi Udyawar Ravi Udyawar is an artist, illustrator, ad filmmak >> Read More... .
