Crazy Mohan

Crazy Mohan was born as Mohan Rangachari on October 16, 1952. He is a famous Tamil comedy actor, playwright and screenwriter. He studied Mechanical Engineering at College of Engineering in Guindy. He started writing stage plays and dramas and made his own drama troupe, the Crazy Creations in year 1979 and worked with shows like Meesai Aanaalum Manaivi, Maadhu +2, Allaudin and 100 Watts Bulb and Marriage Made in Salon. His troupe staged in more than 4,500 shows around India and other countries like Atlanta, Albany, Dallas, Canada, Boston and a lot more. His most popular play, Chocolate Krishna was staged for 500 times in the span of three years. He also penned the dialogues on several comedy films. He wrote more than 30 plays and 100 short stories and acted in more than 40 films. When he became a full time writer, he started working in the Chennai-based, Sundaram – Clayton Limited. During college, he wrote the ‘Great Bank Robbery’ which he presented at the inter-collegiate competition, following by some scripts given to his brother’s drama troupe in Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda College in Chennai. His very first full-length play, the ‘Crazy Thieves in Paalavakkam’, which he wrote for the 1976 film, Natakapriya, became a major hit and earned him the pen name, Crazy Mohan. Mohan also penned the dialogues for One More Exorcist and Tenant Commandments.

Mohan’s first feature film was entitled Poikkal Kudhirai, which is directed by K. Balachander. He penned the dialogues of the film and this was based on his own drama entitled, Marriage Made in Salon. Mohan also portrayed supporting roles and appeared in cameo roles in most of the films he wrote.

He started to produce his own television series in year 1987.
