Tamil Choreographer Sheriff Moideen
Written By - Team Nettv4u

Sherif is a talented and a well-known Tamil Choreographer in India. He is a self-confessed hyperactive individual with a curious soul, who loves to experiment. At almost 35 years of age now, he has achieved new heights in the Kollywood industry. In 2009, he won the Dance Reality Show “Ungalil Yaar Adutha Prabhu Deva Story soon >> Read More... ” and has become the first preference of many known Tamil Movie Directors. With the immense amount of pressure to meet deadlines in the Kollywood industry, he takes guidance from his Dance Reality Show experience to handle the pressure.

He faced tremendous pressure during his stint in the reality show. He had most of the competing artists as his students and at some point he was on the brink of being ousted. He felt that his strength was his strategic planning. Sherif is very proud of his journey in the industry and feels the most special thing is that he is living the dream of his grandfather. He had an opportunity as an actor in the film “Vetriselven” but considers that as an ill omen and a reason for him to shift his career to become a choreographer. As an artist, Sherif prides himself on his out of the box thinking to give a unique sense of style in all his works.

He aggressively searches for unique ideas and concepts. He likes to have his space to think things through and he has to come up with something different and entirely his own within the deadline which is usually one or two days only. Before starting his journey in the Kollywood industry, Sherif was a teacher in Coimbatore and had people whom left as his students. It is that experience that helps in dealing with reluctant actors who refuse to dance.

He has his self-developed techniques to make people comfortable to understand and do as he says. He can make people comfortable and tell his steps in a more understandable approach. He has rarely faced any criticism but considers that many people in the industry consider his inability to perform on Kuthu Songs, as a weakness. But Sherif believes that he is a creator and is there to carve out a path of his own and not to follow anyone else’s.

He is a diehard fan of ‘ Michael Jackson’ and ' Prabhu Deva' and considers his greatest achievement the chance that he got to share the stage with Prabhu Deva. He shares a great rapport with cinematographer ' Soundar Rajan' and has worked on projects like " Isai" and " Romeo Juliet" with him. Sherif told the media once that Soundar is very obliging to his crazy advice of camera angles for his songs. He has worked with many great actors in his time in the industry but considers ‘ Sivakarthikeyan Sivakarthikeyan is a stand-up comedian, actor, and >> Read More... ’ and ‘ Arya Click to look into! >> Read More... ’ as one of the most hardworking ones.

Arya, though not a natural dancer has “Never Say Never” kind of attitude that makes him work till he gets every step right. Music Composer ' G V Prakash Kumar' is considered as one of the most flexible ones by Sherif as he comes up with a tune that Sherif had in mind for a particular song. In his latest project, Sherif is choreographing one of the quirkiest songs as per him.

Being a Muslim and being considered to choreograph a song about “Vinayaga Chathurthi” shows the amount of trust the director has put into him. He always says that if there is nothing new that can be done in a song; he feels only he himself can do it differently.
