One of the most prominent supporting actresses in Malayalam movies, Seema Nair is another of the most versatile actresses in the Malayalam movie industry with more than 50 movies under her belt. Born in the Mundakayam village in Kottayam, to parents M.G Gopinathan Pilla and Cherthala Sumathi, Seema has a sister, Renkua Girijan who is a playback singer, and a brother, A.G Anil, who is a music director. She is formally trained in music, having obtained her degree from R.L.V College of Music and Fine Arts, Tripunithura.

Her career with the performing arts started with her performance as a theatre artist at the age of 17, appearing in the Cochin Sanghamithra’s drama Oru Kadamkadha in 1987. From there, she has performed in over 1000 dramas on stages globally, even winning the Kerala State Amateur Drama Awards in 1992.

Her career took a positive turn when she moved from the theatre to TV serials, and then on to movies. Her first serial role was in the show Cherappayi Kadhakal, in the role of Kocheroda. She has also acted in telefilms and participated in reality shows including Nakshthradeepangal (Kairali TV) and as a judge for the popular reality show Rasikaraja No. 1 (Surya TV), apart from featuring on popular talk shows including Valentine’s Corner, , Valkannadi, the etc.

She is also a member of the Kerala Division of the Make-A-Wish foundation and is a prominent member of the charity. She organized an event in 2012, where along with artists from Malayalam film and TV including Malini, , Siddique, Kailash and the Social Welfare Minister M K Muneer. 57 children were helped through the event, where they were presented with gifts from the organizers. These children suffer from HIV, Cancer, Heamophilia and other incurable diseases, and are terminal. The work carried out by Seema Nair in providing hope and joy to these children is exceptional, with some of the most touching moments including when one of the children, Reshma R, a sixth-standard student was presented with a violin, and she burst into tears. Reshma later mentioned that she cherished a dream for a long time to touch a violin.
