M. R. Gopakumar is considered an actor of exceptional and extraordinary caliber who can slip into the soul of any character with considerable ease. He originally hails from Kottayam district in Kerala, India and he comes from the theater world. Even nowadays, Gopakumar takes his time out from his busy schedule to do theater. He won Kerala State Film Award in the year 1999 for his brilliant performance in the movie Gopalan Nayarude Thaadi. He also did many memorable and notable roles in various Malayalam Telefilms and TV serials. Gopakumar is an incredibly talented Malayalam movie-serial actor. Gopakumar was born and brought up in Kanyakumari, Tamilnadu. His parents are Mr.Rama Krishnan Nair and Mrs. Kamala Bhai. Gopakumar’s real name is Gopakumaran Nair. He is married to Inthira, and they have two children, Soumya & Srijit.Gopakumar is a postgraduate in commerce and was employed with AG’s Office at Trivandrum. In 2011, he retired from central government service. Gopakumar is currently settled at Trivandrum, Kerala.

Gopakumar initiated his acting profession in drama ‘Raksa Purusan’. He then shapes a small drama group names ‘Natya Griham’ and conducted several shows throughout Kerala for more than fifteen years. Towards mid-eighties, he started working in serials and later moved on to movies. Gopakumar has many serials to his credit including Mandan Kunju, Amala, Amma, Kalyani, Kavya Anchali, Chadrothayam, Jvala Aayi, and Sadashivante Kumbhasaram. Gopakumar has been felicitated by State Awards for multiple times during his career. He mainly focuses on character roles and has portrayed some villain roles as well. The negative role which he enacted in the movie Vidheyan is the perfect example of Gopakumar’s superior acting skills. Gopakumar was also selected for a role in a Hollywood movie, but unfortunately, he was unable to reach the overseas location due to visa restrictions.
