Zakariya Mohammed

Zakariya Mohammed is a well known Indian Theater Director, Screenwriter, and an Actor in Malayalam Film Industry. He hailed from Valanchery, Kerala, and had also struggled as assistant director, credited with the award-winning short films. He is postgraduate in Mass Communication and Journalism and assisted as a professor in MBL media school based in Calicut.

He started following his passion of film making when he was in 9th standard and shot several short films and documentaries on his own. As a kid, he has also won various prestigious awards, including Kerala State Chalachithra Academy.

Even now, his short films and documentaries are widely screened in numerous film festivals in India and even abroad. He sailed his career as an Assistant Director in an Advertising production house, TVC Factory, Cochin, Kerala. His most prestigious movie, 'Sudani from Nigeria' was composed and coordinated by him. This Indian-Malayalam sports-drama film released in 2018.

Being low budgeted didn't affect his work and got a widely positive response ad was a commercial blockbuster. This film won the 'Mohan Raghavan Award' which consisted of a cash prize of Rs.25,000/-, citation, and memento, and presented to the director Zakariya in December of 2018. It got selected in the competition section of the International Film Fest, Kerala. This film pocketed several other awards as well.
