Santhosh Raman

Santhosh Raman is an Indian Art Director predominantly working in South Indian Film Industry. He primarily works on Malayalam and Tamil films. His famous works are Take Off Click to look into! >> Read More... (2017), Njaan (2014) and Aayan Njanalla (2015). Santhosh was born in Thalassery, a rural area of Kannur in India. Santhosh was passionate about films from childhood. He used to bunk classes and went to watch films with his friends in local cinema halls. He was talented in the art and drawing. That is why the art direction aspect of the films inspired him. After completing 12th from his village school, he attended Govt. College of Fine Arts in Thrissur and completed graduation in the field of Applied Arts.

Then he made his portfolio and tried to pursue his career in Malayalam film industry. After working in various ads and short films, Santhosh finally met director Shyamaprasad. Shyamaprasad offered him the assistant director of photography post for his film Akale. Next year he became an independent art director and made his debut with 2006 film Aanachandam, directed by Jayaraj. Critics praised him for his fresh looks applied in the film. Santhosh directed the art section in Aanathe Chinthavishayam and Chembada, both released in 2008.

After drawing a blank in 2009, he returned in 2010 with critically acclaimed Plus Two (2010). Critics applauded his work. Santhosh became famous and started being an art director in various hit films in Malayalam. Santhosh continued his dream run in 2014 hit Njaan and 2015 blockbuster Aayan Njanalla. He earned recognition from various critics for his exquisite work in those films. He is famous for his collaboration with Malayalam director Ranjith. Santhosh featured in Ranjith’s every film including Spirit (2012), Loham (2015), Leela (2016) and Kadaal Kadannu Oru Mathuikkut (2013).

In the latter half of 2016, he involved with the smash hit Kasaba. In 2017, Santhosh broke the ground in the Malayalam film industry with his work in 2017 thriller film Take 0ff. His art direction made the spectators believe that the film was in Iraq, but actually he created the scenes of Iraq in his studios.
