Naveen D.Padil is a film actor and a theatre actor in the South Indian film industry. He has done predominant work in Kannada. Naveen was born on the 11th of November 1969 in Padil, Mangalore, and Karnataka, India. Naveen started as a theatre artist, mostly in Tulu language. He has performed in more than a thousand plays. He is well recognized in the Tulu theatre field from his performances as a ‘Master of comedy and tragedy.’ He is reffered to as ‘Kusalda Arase,’ which means ‘The king of happiness.’
In the 1990s and the early 2000s, Naveen Padil, along with Devadas Kapikad and Aravind Bolar, formed a trio and featured in Tulu Comedy plays. Padil, alongside his theatre career started acting in films in the 1990s. He made his debut on the big screen with a Malayalam film ‘Vidheyan’ in 1993. This film was directed by ‘Adoor Gopalakrishnan’ and featured Mammootty and Tanvi Azmi in the lead roles. After this film, his film career took off, and he started acting in many Tulu movies in which he primarily portrayed comical roles.
Some of his well recognized and celebrated films are ‘Oriyarodi Asal’, which released in 2011, directed by H.S.Rajashekar and featured Ramya Barna, Naveen D Padil and Likith Shetty in the lead roles. ‘Chaali Polilu ’ is another famous movie of Naveen’s, which was released in 2014, directed by ‘Virendra Shetty Kapoor’ and featured Devdas Kapikad, Naveen D Padil and Bhjaraj Vamanjoor in the lead roles. As recognition of his hefty contribution to theatre, Naveen at the 24th Sandeha Awards in the arts segment in 2014 was awarded.
He won many awards for his films like the ‘Best Supporting Actor’ award in the Karnataka state film awards for his role in ‘Kudla Cafe’ in 2014 and ‘Best Actor in a comic role,’ the RED FM Tulu Film Awards for his role in ‘Oriyadori Asal’ in 2014. In 2015, he won ‘Best Actor in comic role’ for his role on ‘Telikeda Bolli’ and ‘Best Actor’ for his role in ‘Chaali Polilu’ in the ‘TULU Cinemostava Awards.’
