Padmapriya is an Indian cinema artist who has appeared in films and television projects in the South Indian entertainment industry. Padmapriya was born in Karnataka and spoke Kannada at her home. In 1971, Padmapriya debuted in the Kannada movie industry by featuring in Amarabharathi as producer. In 1976, Padmapriya starred opposite Vishnuvardan in KSR Das’BangaradaGudi. It released on 13 August 1976 and did a decent business in the cinema halls in the Kannada regions.

Critics consider Shankar Guru as one of the best Kannada flicks in the 1970s. The film won State Award for Best Editing. In the same year, Padmapriya played the role of a lover in the movie Operation Diamond Racket. In fact, Operation Diamond Racket got screened again after 35 years in Bengaluru theatres. In 1982, Padmapriya received appreciation for her work in K V Jayaram’sBaadadaHoo. It was an adaptation of Saisuthe’s novel.

As a matter of fact, BaadadaHoo won laurels at various award ceremonies. Her Kannada filmography includes OorigeUpakari, Nanna RoshaNooruVarusha, MankuThimma, KalluveeneNudiyithu, and ThayigeMaduThamasheNodu. Her final project was Sri NanjundeshwaraMahime. Padmapriya played the character of Bhamini, a princess in the Madurai kingdom. The flick received praise from the audience. Despite Ramachandran’s death, Padmapriya’s last Tamil movie NallathaiNaaduKekum had a footage of the late actor who would go on to become the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu. In 1977, Padmapriya opted to do Malayalam motion pictures as well. In her two year span in Mollywood, she started off with Chathurvedam which had prominent Malayali actors in the lead roles.

Padmapriya had to settle for supporting roles in Kerala. Maybe Padmapriya did not pursue her Mollywood career because she could not get lead roles in upcoming projects. In 1979, Padmapriya acted in her last Mollywood venture Mani KoyaKurup. As far as Tollywood was concerned, Padmapriya acted in two movies only: DhoorapuKondalu and BhaleAlludu. After 1991, the audience could not watch Padmapriya’s movies. Apparently, Padmapriya suffered a kidney failure which stopped the actress from working on any projects.
