Neelesh Misra

Neelesh Misra is an Indian director, author, writer, photographer, radio presenter and journalist. Neelesh was born on 5th May 1973 in Nainital, Uttarakhand. He presently lives in Mumbai, Maharashtra. He studied till 10th in St. Joseph’s College, Nainital; completed his junior college years at Mahanagar Boys’ Inter College in Lucknow in 1990 and in 1993 he graduated from DSB Government Degree College in Nainital. Later he moved to Delhi to study at Indian Institute of Mass Communication.

He then married to Yamini Misra. He has a daughter named Vaidehi. Neelesh started his career in journalism. Being a journalist he covered the insurgency and conflict in all over the South Asia; he is doing this since 20 years. He has studied the areas which are dominated by Naxalite in India as well as has covered the Maoist insurgency taking place in Nepal.

2009, was the year in which he was honored with Ramnath Goenka Award for Excellence in Journalism and also the K.C. Kulish Memorial Award, for his work. Neelesh has written books like ‘The Absent State’, ‘173 Hours in Captivity’, ‘Once Upon a Timezone’ and ‘End of the Line’.
