Deepali Junjappa is an Indian writer of young-adult literature and fantasy fiction novels and screenplay writer. She usually writes stories using her pen name, Dipu Darko. Deepali has spent her childhood in Shillong, India. She started to write poems at her early age, and the first poem she wrote was entitled, The Lady Click to look into! >> Read More... in White, which was later published in The Meghalaya Guardian. Since then, she never stops writing, and her works were published in several local and national dailies. She studied at Loreto Convent Shillong, where she was polished and nurtured by Irish nuns. She took a Master degree in Creative Writing at Macquarie University in Australia. Post graduation, she became a content writer in Australia’s 2Ser Radio and as a reporter for the Indian Express, under the column, The Brief. Subsequently, she entered television and wrote for several television shows on Channel V and Star Plus channels including Hatim (2003), Princess Dollie Aur Uska Magic Bag (2004), Akkad Bakkad Bambey Bo (2005), India Calling India Calling was the first daily soap launched by >> Read More... (2005), and Suvreen Guggal – Topper of the Year (2012).

She also worked on Sony TV’s Indian fantasy television series, Arslaan in 2008. In the year 2013, she facilitated writing workshops, together with Dalanglin Bryson Dkhar under their very own company called Of Heroes and Villains. Her first book was entitled The Twisted Twenties, which was released in 2014 and became a hit with many youngsters. Her next book, Bitchweed is a micro-thriller, which was released in 2016 and was ser in a dystopian universe. Her other book entitled Alamanda was set in her native place, and the characters she wrote were people, who have been part of her growing years. Besides writing, she also dabbles in stand-up comedy and participated in some amateur sketch in New York City. At first, she is into the theater until writing came to her. She also dreams of directing a movie in the future. Deepali is an alumnus of the New York Film Academy, which helps her hone her talent and versatility in writing over the years.
