Pooja Kumar, is a renowned American actress,who is also a producer, model and a television presenter. She was born on February 4, 1977 at ‘St. Louis, Missouri, United States’ into a Mathur family. Her parents are immigrant from India. She has graduated with degrees in ‘Political Science and Finance’ from ‘Washington University’. She is also well trained in Indian Classical dance forms like ‘Bharatnatyam’, ‘Kuchipudi’ and ‘Kathak’. One of the greatest achievements of Pooja Kumar was that, she was crowned as “Miss India USA”. She also worked as a newsreader on the show ‘Namaste America’. Pooja has been a VJ for channel V. Pooja has also done Tamil films such as ‘Kaadhal Rojavae’ in 2000 as Pooja, Vishwaroopam in 2013 as Dr. ‘Nirupama Wasim’ and ‘Uthama Villain’ in 2015 as ‘Karpagavalli’. She also played various characters in English movies like ‘Flavors’ in 2004 as ‘Rachana’, ‘Nights of Henna in 2005 as Hava’, ‘Hiding Divya in 2006 as Palini Shah’. In 2009, she worked in three movies and marked her presence in movies like ‘Bollywood Beats as Laxmi’, Knots Urbane as Rachna and ‘Park Sharks as Pri’. In the following years she worked in English movies such as ‘Anything for You’ as ‘Uma Krishnan’, ‘Drawing with Chalk’ as ‘’ and ‘Man On a Ledge’ as ‘Nina’. Pooja Kumar worked in Hindi Cinema for her tremendous roles in Bollywood films like ‘’ in 2010, where she played the role of ‘Peshto’. In 2013 she worked as ‘Dr. Nirupama Wasim in Vishwaroopam’ which was the Hindi version of the Tamil movie. As a producer she produced a short film, “1001 Auditions”, this movie was selected in eight film festivals. 1001 Auditions was nominated for “Best Short Film” at the “Stuttgart Film Festival in Germany”. Another short film “Shoot My Life” was produced by Pooja. Pooja received the ‘Screen Actors Guild Emerging Actress Award’ for Flavors in 2003.
